Was a Teamster / Artilleryman with Colonel Proctor Regiment
Fought at Brandywine and Germantown at the age of 33.
Was noted for his courage during the retreat from Brandywine, when he refused to let his team, wagon, and dropped armaments fall into enemy hands.
He is quoted as saying, “The enemy shall not have my team. I will save the horses or perish myself.”
Lived in a log cabin in Conshohocken with Jude, his wife, and Charles, his son.
Hector Street in Conshohocken was named after him in 1850.
His daughter-in-Law, Leah Hector, lived to be 107 years old and died in 1887.
Received a "gratuity" payment of 40 dollars instead of a pension from Continental Congress the year before he died.
